Acceptable Use Policy

Effective Date: July 22, 2026

Version: 1.0

Applies To: All registered users, visitors, and third-party integrations of the DownTime Dating platform

At DownTime Dating, we believe that everyone deserves to feel safe, respected, and genuinely seen while they explore connection. This platform was built on a simple but powerful idea: that authentic relationships begin in spaces where people feel protected, valued, and free to be themselves. This Acceptable Use Policy is our shared agreement — a promise we make to our community and that our community makes to one another. It is not a list of restrictions designed to limit you. It is a foundation designed to hold you.

1. Introduction & Purpose

DownTime Dating is a connection platform built for real people seeking authentic relationships. We are deeply committed to providing a dating environment that is safe, inclusive, trauma-informed, and welcoming to individuals of all backgrounds, identities, and experiences. This Acceptable Use Policy (the “Policy”) establishes the standards of conduct that make that environment possible.

This Policy exists because we believe safety is not a feature — it is a right. Every person who joins our community should be able to explore connection without fear of harm, manipulation, or exploitation. These guidelines reflect that belief.

1.1 Who This Policy Applies To

This Policy applies to:

  • All registered users of the DownTime Dating platform, regardless of subscription level or account type;
  • Visitors who access any portion of the platform without a registered account;
  • Third-party developers, API integrators, and business partners accessing DownTime Dating services or data; and
  • Any individual acting on behalf of or through a registered account.

1.2 Relationship to Other Policies

This Policy is incorporated by reference into and must be read alongside DownTime Dating’s Terms of Service and Privacy Policy. In the event of any conflict between this Policy and those documents, the Terms of Service shall govern unless this Policy expressly provides otherwise. By creating an account or accessing the platform, you agree to be bound by all three documents in their current form.

2. Eligibility & Age Requirements

Your safety — and the safety of every person on this platform — begins with ensuring that DownTime Dating is used only by adults who can engage in consensual, informed connections.

2.1 Minimum Age Requirement

You must be at least 25 years of age to create an account, access, or use the DownTime Dating platform in any capacity. There are no exceptions to this requirement.

2.2 Zero-Tolerance for Minor Access

The presence of minors on this platform is strictly and absolutely prohibited. DownTime Dating maintains a zero-tolerance policy toward any access by, facilitation of access by, or exposure of minors to this platform or its content.

  • Users may not create accounts on behalf of, or for the benefit of, any person under the age of 25.
  • Users may not share account credentials, access links, or platform content with any person under the age of 25.
  • Users may not facilitate, encourage, or permit minors to interact with other users on the platform in any way.

2.3 Age Verification & Misrepresentation

DownTime Dating may require users to complete age verification at any time, including at registration or upon reasonable suspicion of age misrepresentation. Providing false information about your age, or the age of any other person, is a serious violation of this Policy and our Terms of Service. Such misrepresentation may result in immediate permanent account removal and referral to law enforcement.

2.4 Detected Minor Access

If DownTime Dating has reason to believe that a minor has accessed the platform — whether through their own account or through a third party’s account — we will:

  • Immediately suspend the account(s) involved;
  • Preserve all relevant account data in accordance with applicable law;
  • Make reasonable efforts to notify a parent or legal guardian where contact information is available or discoverable; and
  • Report to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC) and/or law enforcement as required by law.

3. Prohibited Behaviors

Our community is built on mutual respect. The behaviors described in this section are not permitted on DownTime Dating under any circumstances. We have written these standards to be clear and firm — not to be punitive, but because your safety and the safety of others depends on shared accountability.

3.1 Harassment & Abusive Conduct

Every person on this platform deserves to be treated with dignity. Harassment of any kind — whether it begins as a joke, a bad day, or intentional cruelty — causes real harm, and we take it seriously.

Harassment includes, but is not limited to, repeated unwanted contact after a user has communicated a desire for no further communication, threatening language, intimidation, and sexual coercion of any kind.

The following are strictly prohibited:

  • Verbal abuse, slurs, derogatory language, or hate speech targeting any individual or group based on race, color, ethnicity, national origin, gender, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, religion, disability, age, immigration status, or any other protected characteristic;
  • Threats of violence, physical harm, or threats designed to induce fear, whether directed at another user or at third parties;
  • Threats of self-harm used as a means of coercion or manipulation toward another user;
  • “Revenge” behaviors following rejection, unmatching, or declining to respond — including persistent messaging, unsolicited contact through other channels, public shaming, or retaliatory reviews; and
  • Sustained campaigns of unwanted contact, including through the use of multiple accounts or third-party channels.

3.2 Fake Profiles & Impersonation

Authentic connection begins with honesty. Creating a false identity — whether to deceive, exploit, or simply to feel safer — undermines the trust that makes our community possible. We understand that vulnerability is hard, and we are here to support authentic self-presentation, not punish it. However, deliberate deception is a different matter entirely.

The following are strictly prohibited:

  • Creating fictitious identities, engaging in catfishing, or materially misrepresenting key identity attributes including age, gender, geographic location, relationship status, or physical appearance;
  • Impersonating any real individual, including public figures, celebrities, or DownTime Dating staff, moderators, or contractors;
  • Using AI-generated images, digitally altered photographs, or photographs of other individuals as profile images;
  • Using photographs that do not accurately represent the current physical appearance of the account holder; and
  • All profile photographs must depict the actual, current account holder. Stock photos, model photos, and celebrity images are prohibited as profile photos.

3.3 Scams & Financial Exploitation

Romance scams cause devastating emotional and financial harm. We take every reasonable measure to detect and remove bad actors who would weaponize the hope of connection against our members. If something feels off, trust that feeling — and report it.

The following are strictly prohibited:

  • Romance scams of any kind, including systematically cultivating false emotional intimacy for the purpose of extracting money, property, or financial information;
  • Soliciting financial assistance, gifts, gift cards, wire transfers, bank account information, or cryptocurrency under any pretext or framing whatsoever;
  • Advance-fee fraud schemes (e.g., “I am in an emergency and will repay you once I return” or similar fabricated scenarios designed to extract funds);
  • Sharing phishing links, credential-harvesting pages, or deceptive redirects through any platform messaging or profile feature; and
  • Any scheme designed to gain access to another user’s financial accounts, personal identity information, or payment credentials.

3.4 Spam & Unsolicited Commercial Solicitation

DownTime Dating is a place for personal connection — not a marketplace, a network, or an advertising platform. Using our community to sell, recruit, or promote is a misuse of the trust our members place in this space.

The following are strictly prohibited:

  • Sending mass, copy-paste, automated, or bot-generated messages to multiple users;
  • Promoting products, services, businesses, personal brands, or social media accounts through matches, messages, or profile content;
  • Multi-level marketing (MLM) recruiting, affiliate link sharing, brand promotion, or sponsored content of any kind;
  • Using the platform for lead generation, market research, or systematic data harvesting; and
  • Directing users off-platform for commercial or promotional purposes through deceptive means.

3.5 Sexual Exploitation & Non-Consensual Content

We are deeply committed to sexual safety and bodily autonomy. Every person has the right to control their own image, their own body, and the terms of their intimate interactions. Violations in this area are treated with the utmost seriousness.

The following are strictly prohibited:

  • Soliciting, sharing, distributing, or threatening to distribute non-consensual intimate imagery (NCII) — commonly called “revenge porn” — regardless of how the imagery was originally obtained;
  • Distributing sexually explicit content of any kind without verified, explicit, mutual consent from all individuals depicted;
  • Grooming behaviors, including the systematic building of emotional trust for the purpose of later sexual exploitation;
  • Using the platform to facilitate, arrange, advertise, or solicit prostitution or any commercial sexual service; and
  • Requesting nude, partially nude, or sexually explicit images from any other user.

3.6 Human Trafficking & Exploitation

DownTime Dating is unequivocally opposed to human trafficking in all its forms. Our platform will not be used — directly or indirectly — to harm, exploit, or control any person.

The following are absolutely prohibited:

  • Any use of the platform to recruit, coerce, solicit, transport, harbor, receive, or exploit individuals for the purposes of labor trafficking or sex trafficking;
  • The use of language, coded terms, symbols, or signaling commonly associated with trafficking activity;
  • Advertising or facilitating the commercial sexual exploitation of any person; and
  • Knowingly assisting, facilitating, or funding any trafficking-related activity in any way.

DownTime Dating is obligated to report suspected trafficking activity to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC), the National Center for Transgender Equality (NCTE) where applicable, and federal and local law enforcement agencies. We will cooperate fully with all lawful investigations.

3.7 Child Safety

⚠ Zero-Tolerance Policy

Any conduct involving the sexual exploitation of minors will result in immediate and permanent account removal and mandatory reporting to law enforcement and NCMEC. There are no warnings, no appeals, and no exceptions.

The protection of children is our highest priority. The following are absolutely and unconditionally prohibited:

  • Any content, communication, imagery, or conduct involving the sexual exploitation of minors (CSAM) in any form, without exception;
  • Grooming, enticement, solicitation, or any attempt to establish inappropriate relationships with individuals believed or known to be under the age of 18;
  • Using the platform to arrange meetings, exchange materials, or coordinate with others for any purpose involving the sexual exploitation of minors; and
  • Any conduct that could facilitate the production, distribution, or possession of child sexual abuse material.

DownTime Dating has a mandatory reporting obligation to the NCMEC CyberTipline for any detected or suspected CSAM. Every such account will be immediately and permanently banned, all account data preserved, and the matter referred to law enforcement without delay and without exception.

3.8 Stalking, Doxxing & Privacy Violations

Your privacy is yours. The privacy of every member of our community is sacred, and using this platform to surveil, expose, or control another person is a serious violation of their safety and autonomy.

The following are strictly prohibited:

  • Tracking, surveilling, or physically following any user online or offline, including using information gathered through the platform to locate a user in the physical world;
  • Doxxing — sharing another user’s private personal information, including home address, workplace, telephone number, email address, financial information, or identifying documentation, without their explicit consent;
  • Screenshotting, recording, or otherwise capturing private conversations, profile content, or multimedia shared within the platform for the purpose of public distribution, mockery, or harassment; and
  • Using any platform location features, including proximity indicators or check-in tools, to stalk, monitor, or track any user without their knowledge and consent.

3.9 Misuse of Platform Features

Our platform features are designed to help you connect — not to be gamed, exploited, or circumvented. Misusing our infrastructure undermines the experience for every member of this community.

The following are strictly prohibited:

  • Manipulating matching algorithms, creating artificial engagement, purchasing fraudulent interactions, or gaming boost or visibility features through unauthorized means;
  • Using bots, scripts, macros, automation tools, or any non-human method to interact with the platform;
  • Interfering with platform infrastructure, including distributed denial-of-service (DDoS) attacks, unauthorized data scraping, reverse engineering, or decompilation of platform code;
  • Creating multiple accounts to evade a ban, restriction, or warning issued under this Policy or the Terms of Service; and
  • Selling, purchasing, transferring, or otherwise commercializing any DownTime Dating account or account credentials.

4. Consent & Communication Standards

We believe that every conversation on DownTime Dating should feel welcome on both ends. Consensual, respectful communication is the foundation of authentic connection — and it is a non-negotiable standard in our community.

4.1 Consent-First Messaging Philosophy

All communication on DownTime Dating must be consensual, respectful, and welcome. Our consent-first messaging philosophy means that we expect users to:

  • Pay attention to signals — verbal and behavioral — that indicate whether communication is welcome;
  • Respect a user’s right to end a conversation at any time, for any reason, without explanation; and
  • Understand that silence, slow responses, or brief replies may be indicators that continued contact is not wanted.

4.2 Blocking, Reporting, and Opting Out

We encourage all members to use DownTime Dating’s blocking and reporting tools freely, without hesitation and without fear of retaliation. These tools exist for your protection, and using them is always the right choice when something feels wrong. No user will face any negative consequence for making a good-faith use of our safety tools.

4.3 Declining Communication is Valid

Unmatching, not responding to a message, or choosing not to continue a conversation are all valid, respected, and fully protected forms of communication on this platform. No user is ever obligated to explain, justify, or apologize for these choices. Pressure, guilt, or retaliation in response to a user exercising these rights constitutes a violation of this Policy.

5. Reporting & Trust & Safety Tools

Your reports protect not just you — they protect your entire community. We take every report seriously, and we are grateful to every member who helps us keep this space safe.

5.1 How to Report a User

  • In-app report button: Available on every profile and in every message thread. Tap the flag or menu icon to submit a report directly from within the app.
  • Email: Contact our Trust & Safety team at safety@downtimedatingapp.net for matters requiring additional detail or documentation.
  • Emergency situations: If you or someone else is in immediate danger, please contact local emergency services (911) first.

5.2 What Happens After You Report

When a report is submitted, here is what you can expect from us:

  • Acknowledgment: You will receive an automated acknowledgment within 24 hours confirming your report has been received.
  • Review: Our Trust & Safety team will review your report. Standard reviews are completed within 3–5 business days. Complex cases involving potential illegal activity are escalated immediately.
  • Confidentiality: Your identity as a reporter will be kept confidential. The reported user will not be told who filed the report.
  • Outcome: While we cannot always share the specific outcome of an investigation, we will notify you when a reviewed matter has been resolved.

5.3 No Retaliation for Good-Faith Reporting

DownTime Dating is firmly committed to protecting users who report in good faith. No user will face account restrictions, reduced visibility, or any adverse action as a result of submitting a sincere safety report. Filing a report known to be false or intended to harm another user, however, is itself a violation of this Policy.

6. Enforcement Tiers

We believe enforcement should be fair, transparent, and proportionate. The following table summarizes our framework, with full descriptions following below.

Tier LevelApplicable ViolationsPrimary Action

  • Educational resources, including DownTime Dating’s Community Standards guide, are provided to the user.
  • No restriction to account functionality is imposed at this stage.

Tier 2 — Temporary Restriction

Applicable to: Repeat Tier 1 violations; moderate-severity conduct including harassment, presence of fake profile elements, unsolicited explicit messaging, or commercial solicitation.

  • Partial or full account restriction is imposed, which may include suspension of messaging privileges, profile visibility being hidden, or full account suspension, for a period of 7 to 30 days depending on severity.
  • The user must complete a DownTime Dating Community Standards Acknowledgment before account privileges are reinstated.
  • The user has the right to appeal within 14 days of receiving the restriction notice. See Section 7 for the appeals process.

  • The user will be notified of the referral unless law enforcement agencies request otherwise under applicable legal authority.

7. Appeals Process

We recognize that enforcement decisions are not always perfect, and we are committed to a fair process. If you believe an action was taken against your account in error, you have the right to appeal — and we will give your appeal genuine consideration.

7.1 How to Submit an Appeal

Appeals must be submitted in writing to info@downtimedatingapp.net using the subject line: “Account Appeal — [Your Registered Email Address].” DownTime Dating will acknowledge receipt of your appeal within 3 business days and issue a final decision within 10 business days of acknowledgment.

7.2 What to Include in Your Appeal

To help us review your appeal promptly and thoroughly, please include the following:

  • Your full name and the email address associated with your DownTime Dating account;
  • The date you received the enforcement notice;
  • A clear description of why you believe the action was taken in error or is disproportionate; and
  • Any supporting context, evidence, or documentation you would like the Trust & Safety team to consider.

7.3 Final Decision Authority

All appeal decisions rest with the DownTime Dating Trust & Safety team. Their decision is final. DownTime Dating does not offer a secondary or escalated appeal process beyond this review.

7.4 Non-Appealable Violations

Appeals are not available for enforcement actions involving any of the following:

  • Any conduct involving minors or CSAM;
  • Human trafficking or sexual exploitation;
  • Credible threats of violence; or
  • Any matter that has been referred to law enforcement under Tier 4.

8. Policy Amendments & Notification

DownTime Dating is a growing platform, and our policies will evolve alongside our community’s needs, applicable law, and our ongoing commitment to safety. We reserve the right to update, amend, or replace this Policy at any time.
